At the start of Apex Legends Season 14: Hunted, it appears players won't be getting an in-game gifting feature just yet, but soon enough perhaps.
Gifting, of course, is a highly requested feature in just about any game with valuable cosmetics. The ability to send and receive skins for both weapons and characters is one that's long been a handy tool in Fortnite, for instance.
According to Respawn Entertainment senior design director Evan Nikolich, it appears the developers are already hard at work trying to bring a gifting feature over to Apex Legends.
According to Dexerto, Nikolich revealed during an Apex Legends: Hunted press event that "gifting is actually something we’re working on actively right now."
"It’s something we’ve been trying to get in the game," Nikolich said. "It’s a more complex issue than just adding gifting, how do we make it fair and give it the right motivation?
"Any time we add any kind of monetization vector in the game we want it to be something that’s celebrated, that people enjoy. We want to make sure it doesn’t feel cheap or grindy. So when we add gifting, we want it to be something we can embrace as part of that celebration, that takes time to dial in just right."
Ultimately, between this, the upcoming meta changes and the level cap increase, Respawn seems well-equipped to keep the show running for Season 14 and beyond.
