It appears big changes are on the way for Apex Legends' Ranked Battle Royale mode in Season 13: Saviors.
On Monday, Respawn Entertainment officially unveiled Season 13 of Apex Legends, Saviors, which is also set to debut the long-awaited character Newcastle. As part of their traditional teaser and reveal-filled promotional campaign, Respawn also released an interesting detail regarding its Ranked system, something its developers have certainly been hyping up in recent weeks.
Apex Legends'Â Ranked Battle Royale mode has long been a matter of push and pull between Respawn and the game's community, with players seemingly always looking for major changes to improve the title's competitive experience.
Back in March, Respawn producer Josh Medina seemingly doubled down on the ability of the upcoming 13th season of Apex Legends to deliver a much-improved Ranked Battle Royale experience, Tweeting, "We better get a hashtag come season 13 that says #ThanksRespawnForSavingApexRanked."
On Monday, Respawn live team support member @RSPN_Pav then took to Twitter to add, "Excited to see what everyone thinks of the new ranked system. Big things coming."
At the time of publication, the Apex Legends: Saviors promo page now includes a small official blurb inviting players to look forward to "Ranked Reloaded" coming in Season 13.
"Rise and fall through the Ranks together in a reworked Ranked system that rewards teamwork and skill," the official Respawn blurb reads.
Ultimately, it will be interesting to see just what type of changes, if any, come to the mode's Kill Points system in Season 13, which has arguably given players have a much higher incentive to get kills and assists than in other titles' competitive playlists. It would also be interesting to see if Respawn will implement some of the community's voiced ideas, such as team-shared KP and increased RP gains for placements, as well as the ability to demote between ranked tiers.
Judging by this teaser, it appears we might see just that.
