Don't Have a Powerful Gaming PC? Starfield Lands on Nvidia GeForce Now

Starfield has made its way to Nvidia's GeForce Now game-streaming platform.

Starfield is the first new game universe to be developed by Bethesda Game Studios in over 25 years, so it's no surprise the game is one of the most hyped titles of the year. Due to Starfield's demanding graphics, though, many gamers have been asking for it to be added to GeForce Now, which provides the power of a high-end GPU via streaming.

As we noted in our Starfield review, "Bethesda got some heat for entering an AMD-exclusive partnership ahead of Starfield’s launch, which optimizes the game for AMD hardware, namely FSR 2 image processing and upscaling." There's no support for Intel XeSS or Nvidia DLSS, and the game also struggles to run on Intel’s Arc GPUs because the company neglected to release an optimized driver for the game.

Now, however, GeForce Now Ultimate members get access to GeForce RTX 4080 rigs with 4K resolution and ray tracing at 120fps for Ultimate members, 9to5Google reports. Priority members get up to 1080p at 60fps.

To play Starfield on GeForce now, you must first have your own copy of the game. But if you have Xbox Game Pass, Starfield is included, and thanks to a new partnership between Nvidia and Microsoft, you can enjoy most of your Xbox Game Pass games on GeForce Now. If you'd rather buy it to own and keep forever, you can purchase a copy from Steam.

The news is exciting for those with an older computer, as well as gamers playing on any of the new portable consoles, such as the Steam Deck or the Asus ROG Ally.

Thanks to the high-performance GeForce Now computers, portable gamers will now be able to enjoy a much more graphically intense experience. The only downside is that the streaming platform needs constant internet access, making your portable game console less so.
