Diablo Immortal, the newest MMORPG from Blizzard Entertainment, will be released worldwide on June 2, 2022. Taking place between the events of Diablo II and Diablo III, players can expect an action-packed experience where they have a choice in what that action looks like, as they get to choose from six possible classes to play as. The question most people have on their mind, though, is this: will Diablo Immortal be free-to-play?
Is Diablo Immortal Free-To-Play?
As stated in an article on the Blizzard website, Diablo Immortal is a free-to-play game, with optional in-app purchases. Blizzard plans to support the game with continuous free content that will be available to all players, and that purchases "[feel] fair" and will "never circumvent Diablo's core gameplay- killing demons and getting gear."
Blizzard want players who decide not to make in-app purchases to have a way to be able to earn the things other people decide to pay for, while still having a satisfying and enjoyable experience. Some bonuses of making in-app purchases, however, are:
- A battle pass progression system that allows players to earn more rewards.
- Purchasing Crests, which guarantee some non-gear rewards (such as Runes of Legendary Gems) will drop while running Elder Rifts.
- Purchasing Specialized Reforge Stones, which allow players to focus on wanted item properties while reforging gear.
Diablo Immortal was made for mobile, but cross-play with PC will be available.
