Will Mario Strikers: Battle League have DLC?
Now that the latest entry in the line of Mario soccer games has officially launched, it's perhaps no surprise that many are wondering whether or not Nintendo has any DLC expansions in the works. Here's a breakdown of Nintendo's DLC plans for Mario Strikers: Battle League.
Will Mario Strikers: Battle League Have DLC?
As announced by Nintendo back in May, a number of free post-launch updates are coming soon to Mario Strikers: Battle League.
Easily the most concrete type of content for players to expect at this point is new characters.
At launch, Mario Strikers: Battle League notably has 10 players on its roster ready to be played, a stark contrast from Mario Strikers: Charged, which had 12 Team Captains and eight Sidekicks for players to unlock.
The recently released Mario Tennis Aces launched with 16 playable characters in June 2018 and received 14 post-launch characters in the subsequent 13 months.
As such, with Mario Strikers: Battle League, there are certainly several series mainstays that could be added, including Daisy, Toadette, Bowser Jr., Koopa Troopa, Diddy Kong, Birdo, Boo and Shy Guy, as well as less-prominent characters like King Bob-omb, Pauline, Chargin' Chuck and Dry Bowser.
According to a datamined leak from @Wipeoutjack7 on May 27, it appears at least 10 more characters will be coming to Mario Strikers: Battle League as DLC.
Aside from DLC, more Stadiums could certainly be used as the game currently does not include Stadiums from older titles.
Lastly, the Mario Strikers Series is pretty well known for its zany game modes over the years (e.g Striker Challenge, Custom Battle), so it's possible there could also be new gameplay features debuting with the upcoming DLC.
Mario Strikers: Battle League is available now, exclusively on the Nintendo Switch.
