Microsoft Is Introducing a $300 Xbox Starter Bundle on Oct. 31

Microsoft is attempting to bolster sales of the Xbox Series S ahead of the holiday season by introducing a new Xbox Starter Bundle for $299.99.

Included in the bundle, which is available worldwide from Oct. 31, is the 512GB Series S console, an Xbox Wireless Controller, and a three-month Xbox Game Pass Ultimate membership. So purchasing the bundle will get you through the holidays and to the end of January before having to spend anymore money to keep playing games.

As the Series S usually costs $300 on its own, Microsoft is effectively throwing in Game Pass for free, which typically costs $50 for three months. Keep in mind, however, that Microsoft recently launched a carbon black edition of the Series S for $349.99, which includes 1TB of storage.

When you consider Seagate's 512GB Xbox Expansion Card costs $139.99, spending an extra $50 buying a carbon black Series S will make more sense than grabbing this new bundle for a lot of gamers. There's also a 14-day Xbox Game Pass for a $1 offer you can take advantage of, and Amazon regularly discounts the three-month version of the Pass (it's $40.49 at time of writing). It's also possible to pick up the Series S for under $280.

If you're unsure about buying a digital games-only console, Sony has you covered. The redesigned, smaller PS5 unveiled recently allows you to purchase a disc drive separately and attach it to the digital edition of the console.
