Overwatch 2 DPS Tier List: October 2022

Overwatch 2 has been out for almost a month now. Enough time has passed that many players have a clear idea of how they would personally rank the current set of heroes in the game. With a majority of the heroes in the game being damage or DPS heroes it can be tricky to decide which one to use. Here is our tier list as of Oct. 2022 of the best DPS heroes in Overwatch 2.

There are currently 17 DPS heroes in Overwatch 2. Compared to tank and support heroes that only have eight to ten heroes, players that want to play for damage have many options. Here is who we believe are the best DPS heroes in Overwatch 2 .

S-Tier

  • Ashe
  • Sombra
  • Sojourn

Ashe's semi-automatic rifle can deal damage at a distance and close range. Her other moves like the coach shotgun dynamite and her ultimate B.O.B allows her to make quick getaways while still dealing some damage. Sombra is useful for stealth and disruptions which can come in handy when dealing with tanks like Zarya. Her translocator can have her teleport behind enemy lines and then follow up with her ultimate EMP blast which will disable and damage foes.

Sojourn is one of the three new heroes added to Overwatch 2. She can be hard to hit thanks to her Power Slide and a fully charged shot from her Railgun can eliminate any non-tank heroes with a single headshot.

A-Tier

  • Bastion
  • Genji
  • Junkrat
  • Widowmaker
  • Pharah

Bastion was loved and hated by many in the first Overwatch. For Overwatch 2 he has been reworked quite a bit but still remains a great damage hero. He can no longer self-heal but he has been given more mobility. His Configuration: Assault can now slowly move unlike in the first game where it was stationary.

Genji has some of the best mobility with his Cyber-Agility and Swift-Strike abilities. Add his Deflect ability and Genji can always be on the run causing problems. Junkrat is one of the better choices for those that just want to distract enemies. From a comfortable distance, Junkrat can launch grenades from his Frag Launcher or send out his ultimate Rip-Tire to explode camping enemies. His Steel trap and Concussion Mine are great to use on unsuspecting players as well. Widowmaker can deal heavy damage if used properly.

Anyone who prides themselves as a sniper in any first-person shooter should have no problem with Widowmaker's verticality and range. Similar Pharah can reach high places and deal heavy damage. Compared to Widowmaker Pharah will have to be more mobile with her Jump Jet and shoot a well-placed Concussive Blast to fend off enemies.

B-Tier

  • Reaper
  • Torbjörn
  • Solider 76

Reaper is one of the better options for players that want to jump headfirst into the action without much of a plan. His Hellfire Shotguns and ultimate Death Blossom are great for dealing quick blasts of damage to groups. He can also heal a bit of health every time he dishes damage so he is encouraged to get into the thick of battle.

Torbjörn is a hero for players who like to play more defensively with his powerful auto-turret. His new ultimate Molten Core can now shoot out hot magma that can damage through armor and slow enemies.

Solider 76 is a great beginner hero to use with easy-to-use abilities. His ultimate Tactical Visor is essentially an aim-bot that auto-locks onto enemies which is great to use against groups. Solider 76 can also heal himself and his allies with his Biotic Field.

C-Tier

  • Tracer
  • Cassidy
  • Hanzo
  • Symmetra

The cover hero for the original Overwatch, Tracer is not the most damaging hero but she is quick and nimble. Those who can best use her Recall ability to avoid crowded fights and can find the best opportunities to drop her ultimate Pulse Bomb will get the most use out of her.

Cassidy the cowboy has lost his stun ability and traded it for a homing Magnetic Grenade. His ultimate Deadeye can sometimes be tricky for new players to pull off but he can still use his Combat Roll to maneuver out of bad situations.

Hanzo is more of a scout than a DPS hero. His arrows can be slow and his ultimate Dragon Strike can easily be seen and avoided. He can be useful in pinpointing enemies using his Wall Climb and Sonic Arrows.

Symmetra, like Hanzo, does not appear as useful when looking at her from a pure damage point of view. Her most useful ability is her Teleporter which can be used by everyone to reach distances quickly. She is more defensive and she should probably be used to project any teleporters at all costs with the help of her Sentry Turrets.

D-Tier

  • Echo
  • Mei

Echo's abilities can hit hard but are easy to see coming. Her Focus Beam can especially hurt when players are at half health, but the move requires her to stand in. She can slowly fly and glide across the map but her main appeal is her ability to copy a single enemy at a time with Duplicate.

Mei was one of the more annoying heroes to deal with back in the first Overwatch. This was large due to her Endothermic Blaster that could freeze enemies in their tracks. This ability can no longer complete trap players however she can still heal herself in her icicle Cryo-Freeze or use Ice Walls to block shots.

There are many options for DPS players in Overwatch 2 feel free to experiment on your to find the hero you like to play the most.
