The new-gen upgrade for Resident Evil 3 could be rolling out very soon, after upgrades have begun appearing for users.
One Twitter user (@BSAAEurope) has shared how they were given the option to upgrade Resident Evil 3 to the PS5 version when they inserted the disc into the system, however the download wouldn't actually initiate. While the upgrade isn't available right now, these claims could point to it being made available very soon.
Capcom has previously confirmed that new-gen upgrades would be rolling out for Resident Evil 2, 3, and 7 sometime this year, though exact dates weren't given. The upgrades would offer improved visuals and performance for the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Save data from each of the games will also carry over to the respective upgraded versions.
Players who already own any of the three games will be eligible for a free upgrade which, thanks to these recent user claims, could be rolling out sooner rather than later. It seems the option for the upgrade has not yet appeared for either Resident Evil 2 or Resident Evil 7 when inserting the physical disc, according to @BSAAEurope.
While Capcom have, at the time of writing, remained quiet on whether or not the upgrades are around the corner, it's likely we'll be seeing some more information soon.
