Pokimane fires back at claims of Kick's domination amidst xQc's game-changing deal: 'Kick makes Twitch money'

MOROCCO, NORTH AFRICA: Imane Anys, widely known as Pokimane, has established herself as a prominent figure in the world of streaming and content creation, boasting a substantial fan base of over 9 million on Twitch and 6 million on YouTube. During a recent live stream on Twitch, she expressed her reaction to the news of Felix Lengyel, also known as xQc, another influential streamer, signing a non-exclusive deal with Kick for a staggering $100 million.

xQc's transition to Kick has undoubtedly made waves in the streaming community, considering his substantial following on multiple social media platforms. As for Pokimane's take on the claims surrounding Kick's dominance in the streaming industry, her remarks during the Twitch live stream shed light on her perspective.

‘Kick makes Twitch money’

As Pokimane was discussing xQc's move to Kick on her Twitch live stream, a message from her chat appeared, stating that "Kick was taking over the streaming scene." However, Pokimane voiced her disagreement with this claim and proceeded to defend Kick.

She said, "'Keep doubting Kick. It is already taking over. Respectfully, people that say stuff like this, you don't understand that Kick makes Twitch money. Like, Kick is using Twitch's services." She then continued, "If Twitch really wanted, they could just stop giving these services to Kick. Right now, they're sitting back like, 'Thanks, I guess.' But also honestly, I don't really care da*n much. Yeah." When someone pointed out that Kick is technically using Amazon's services and not Twitch's, Pokimane replied, "Well, AWS is Amazon and Twitch is Amazon so, in a way it is. In a way it is. But also, I'm just a random streamer..."

Pokimane specifically highlighted that Kick is a recently launched streaming platform that utilizes Amazon Web Services (AWS) Interactive Video Service (IVS) as its core infrastructure. This integration allows Kick to leverage the cloud-based live streaming service provided by AWS, which handles the technical aspects of live streaming. By utilizing this setup, Kick can offload the management of streaming-related tasks and ensure efficient content delivery to its audience. Additionally, Pokimane emphasized that AWS IVS offers a cost-effective solution for live streaming, as Kick only incurs charges for the bandwidth it actively utilizes, making it a financially viable option.

‘All her friends leaving her’

After the video clip went viral, one Twitter user said, "Pokimane is so salty lmfaoooooo" Another said, “Coomers are a thing unfortunately. That and sad little limp dick virgins who will never see a girl naked in their life lmfao. Pokimane is the reason why you can’t say “simp” or “virgin” on twitch because she kept bitching about it.” Someone else claimed, “All her friends leaving her” Another comment read, “It’s funny because Amazon actually loses money on Twitch since they’re giving discounted AWS services they could be selling for full price instead.”
